Roaccutane

I thought I would share my experience of using this drug with you.  Roaccutane is a very strong drug and is used as a cure for acne.  I remember what exactly the dermatologist I went to see at London Bridge hospital said to me on my first visit when he prescribed me this drug.   He said that nothing else in this world, not any skin lotion, potion or any other medication would help my acne and that the only thing that would, was roaccutane.  This is because the medication works from within.  Sure creams and lotions would sometimes help dry out a spot or soothe the redness at times but my acne would always come back and I hated it.  I remember first getting acne at 11, always suffered with it, it would come in bouts, sometimes manageable but other times it would make me cry and I would plaster foundation over myself in a bid to try and cover up.  I had a horrible bout which occurred mainly on my jaw line and neck in the summer of 2008 and a friend from work suggested I go and see this Dr Creamer at London Bridge Hospital - still makes me laugh a dermatologist called Dr Creamer ha ha.  He took one look at my skin and told me I needed roaccutane.  I was on the drug for approximately a year and a half and I think I have had one spot since.  It worked and gave me the confidence to go bare faced and allowed me not to feel like shit at times when looking in the mirror.

The side effects were at times unpleasant, such as redness, sore eyes, chapped lips, you can't lie out in the sun and I suffered nosebleeds.  All sounds pretty horrific, but this is a strong drug, it is also a controversial drug, but it worked and I'm fine.  Bizarrely I feel as though it has changed my genetic make up as in I tan really easily now - but I have no evidence that this is linked to the drug - perhaps its just a coincidence.  I see people in the street with severe acne and I feel like going up to them and saying - you know there is something you can do about it!!!! I hadn't heard of it until a friend told me about it and since then I have had two friends that have been prescribed it and again complete 100% success stories - especially the male friend whose skin was completely transformed in a month!!! Mine took longer than that.

I'm not a doctor obviously, but just wanted to share with you something that finally helped me, but medication is a personal decision but just wanted to let people know its out there in case you know of anyone or you yourself suffer and think there's nothing that can help you.

A GP cannot prescribe this drug, only a dermatologist - go through the NHS, not privately like I did cos I was whacked with a £200 prescription bill each month.

Happy to elaborate further if anyone has any questions.

Also one other thing I'd like to say is that I never thought I had severe acne as in it completely covered my face, most of the time I could hide it and get away with it but even if you get a few spots these could actually be cysts which I actually had - so you're normal acne medication i.e. antibiotics that a GP might prescribe you didn't work.   The point I'm saying is, if you're unhappy with your skin and keep having recurring problems best you ask to be referred to a dermatologist.

You need to be happy in your own skin  - inside and out right?

P.S. Don't listen to anyone who says it's because of your diet or this or that, that's crap.  My friend is an Ironman athlete and has represented Australia in swimming - you can't get a more healthier person and she had one of the worse cases of spots/cysts I had ever seen.

The Ballet Trend

The ballet trend has been gathering pace – first will come the movie I mentioned below Black Swan.

Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel and Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen have already put the look and frabics on the catwalk and of course the new fitness craze to come will be ballet.

Not long then until the high street follows and I for one will be keeping a close eye on this.  It'll be interesting to see exactly how this look will become accessible and wearable for you and I - couture I'm sure will not be a problem, but I certainly do not strut around in anything remotely couture (I wish!).  So I have been doing a bit of research and have found a couple of dresses which are ballet trend based, lots of frills and how gorgeous - one can only dream of course - I'm sure there will be more affordable, similar pieces around soon.

Black Swan

Super excited for this film starring Natalie Portman.

Natalie is one of my favourite actresses, so understated, talented and beautiful.

She is tipped to win best actress at the Oscars.

Friday is the release date here in the UK.

Sunday

We went for a lovely walk around our lake today and took these pictures.  We are so lucky that's it's right on our doorstep.   Had a late brunch with Mark after and then he cooked dinner.   Whenever friends come and stay we always take them for a stroll around here.

Going for a swim shortly and then chill after.  I hope everyone is having a relaxing Sunday!

H&M Home

I have found a few bits that I really like for the house...

1.  Guest bath towel - £6.99 for two

2.  Bath mat - £6.99

3.  Hand towel - £4.99

4. Bath towel - £12.99

I especially like the bottom towel, we use mainly white towels but they can get covered with my make up easily so I think these will be perfect.

Kora Organics

http://www.koraorganics.com/

I've just discovered a fairly new beauty line by Miranda Kerr.

I will be checking out some of these gorgeous looking products for sure.  Once I finish my new O Spa product  I will try this range and let you know what I think.   I wonder if Miranda actually uses her own products?  I'm sure she does, I wouldn't sell anything that I personally would not use.

The brand's mission - "To inspire people globally to nurture their bodies, embrace their unique beauty and understand the benefits of using organic skincare"

Dressing Tables

We're thinking of how to decorate our bedroom at the moment and we would like dark wooden floors and white furniture.  Our house is a new build so contemporary furniture works.   I have found three dressing tables I like.

1.  Go Modern - £780.00

2.  Coco Male Interiors - £599.00

3. Dwell - £599.00

The first is my favourite - I love the hideaway mirror.   Cannot justify buying this at the moment but may be towards the end of the year.

Hair Decoration

When my sister got married she found a great little shop in Kensington where we found our hair pieces.  I think mine looked really nice and a few people have borrowed it since, including a bride for her wedding.   From what people have told me it can be quite difficult finding the right kind of hair accessory for the big day so if you are looking for somewhere you might wanna check the shop out.  Not too sure about the on line store however the shop had so many options, it didn't take us long to decide.

Record Label of the Month

Saved got label of the month a few month's back in iDJ mag, really proud of Mark that he got a mention :-)

Saturday Night

I hope everyone has a great Saturday night, whatever you're up to...

Mark is cooking for me, stir fry...and then we will watch the Godfather 2 and plan Japan further.

I have been sitting here in the office all day so time to leave and spend some time together :-)

Jinxed maybe???

I am thinking of selling my car, which I absolutely love but to me it's completely jinxed.

I have a SAAB 93 and got a great deal on as my brother works for them.  The following has happened in the last two years:-

1.  An hour after its first car clean I parked up outside wicks and when I came out a large trolley was up against the passenger side door, which left a massive dent which is gonna cost £800 to repair

2.  I came out of my old house in Maidstone and someone had attempted to rip the wing mirror off, but ended up just smashing it.

3.  A lot of near misses on the motor way whereby people have tried to pull into the fast lane whilst I am next to them!!

4.  The garage I sent it to for its first service did such a poor job I managed to get my money back.

5.  I was on the A20 one evening, travelling 70mph when a truck's load in front of me flew off - still in litigation at the moment regarding this incident.  Luckily I was not badly injured.

6.  The car is still under warranty but there is an issue with the fuel gage and on Monday it will be the third time back to SAAB with the same problem!!

I'm sure there's more, probably can't think of them at the moment.  I think I will just sell it and get another car, I'm thinking may be an Audi.

I don't want to sound superstitious but it has been one thing after another, such a shame as it's a great drive....

Baby Shower - A Gift Idea

I have found the perfect present.

It's a personalised nappy bag.  I have a baby shower next Sunday and thought this was perfect.  My friend doesn't know the sex so instead of putting the baby's name I put "Baby Blewett".  I think she'll love it.

Jumpsuits

I have found three jumpsuits for different occasions. The first pictured above from Topshop as is currently in the sale, is very classy and I would wear this to dinner or to a nice club. The second (from Warehouse), would be perfect for a beach holiday (I find that most of my wardrobe is either black or white so I am looking for more colourful clothes this year) and the third is a tracksuit type jumpsuit, very cool (again from Topshop).
